Thanksgiving in Canada (October)

Thanksgiving Day in Canada – le Jour d’Action de Grâce in French- has been a holiday on the second Monday of October since 1957. The Canadian Thanksgiving date differs from the U.S Thanksgiving date because their Thanksgiving is not derived from the Pilgrims but the end of a successful harvest. It is a day off work for many Canadians as well as an occasion of family gathering.
