Speaking the bright and beautiful English of Shakespeare

The English-Speaking Union and the British Council partnered to present the third English Language Council Lecture, which celebrates Shakespeare and the English language. The lecture, with Ben Crystal, marked the 450th anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare.

The lecture gives a fascinating insight into how Shakespeare might have wanted his lines pronounced. Actor and author Ben Crystal explores the accent, the theatrical conventions, and the world of Shakespeare, to reveal a bright and beautiful English.

On the British Council website, watch the Language Council Lecture recorded in February 2014, London.
